What makes the perfect romantic break? We asked ourselves that question here at Nether Kirkton Farm when we designed our luxury holiday cottages. We already had the magnificent views of Scottish hills and forests, the peace and tranquillity, the local heritage, lots of fun things to do and proximity to award winning restaurants and gourmet food producers.
What we added was a warm Scottish welcome, a delicious hamper of treats waiting for you when you arrive, fluffy super-king sized beds, deep baths and soft lights for cosy nights in, MP3 players for your favourite tunes, private gardens and a range of DVDs you can borrow for an evening curled up on the big leather sofas. All you need is the one you love!
And when you can drag yourselves away from the comfort and warmth of your cottage, here are a few ideas for days out, things to see and places to go.
Of course the landscape itself is a wonderful romantic treat. During any season, pulling on a pair of walking boots and heading for the mountains, forests or glens will be rewarded with peace, tranquillity and stunning scenery.
If stately homes and castles are your thing, the area is rich in historic landmarks, such as the famous Scone Palace, where every Scottish King was crowned. Or how about a flutter on the horses at Perth Races? And for a cultural experience, Perth Theatre or its dazzling new Concert Hall provide a wide programme of entertainment to suit every taste.
